OUR BIKES
sealed State Highway once again , we made our way to Nelson , with our sights set on the Maungatapu track . This was a craggy , rocky , loose and steep incline where none of us wanted to stop , because we would likely not be able to get going again . We gritted our teeth and powered up the hard stuff , trying to find a happy middle ground between mechanical sympathy and momentum . Once at the top we were greeted with views across Nelson , and a cruisey descent to the Pelorus Bridge and SH6 . From there it was a leisurely sealed ride through to Havelock , where we said goodbye to our South Island friends . We then opened every vent in our jackets , stood up on our pegs and took in the views of Queen Charlotte drive , a very “ lefty , righty , uppy , downy ” road with a
50km / h limit around to Picton . This was an amazing adventure , completely different to the 42nd trip . Thanks to Brent Cotton , our South Island friend , we saw so much more than we even knew existed .
MORE TO COME I had wanted a T7 since I first read about them . I wanted one even more after hearing about Mat ’ s experience in Australia at the launch . Now I have one . I know for sure I have the right bike ; it ’ s sure footed , responsive and able to tackle any terrain I have thrown at it . It ’ s been completely reliable too . I ’ m looking forward to many more adventures - I ’ ve got a whole list of rides to do and the Tenere is central to all of them .
