PRODUCT REVIEW
I ’ ve found that that the profile of the front tyre is very predictable , with a stable turn-in in all conditions , which we especially want in the wet as this gives more confidence . Sport tyres have a different profile and turn in faster , something that ’ s great for fast riding in the dry , but in wet or changeable conditions I prefer a slower turn-in .
END OF LIFE CARE Even at the end of their life and showing advanced wear , there ’ s none of the old style ‘ falling off the cliff ’ type of profile change we used to get as tyres wore out . My Speed Triple RS still steers well and has minimal issues under hard acceleration from decent lean angles . They ’ ve given me nothing but reassurance in all conditions .
They last too . I ’ ve done over 9000km on them , which includes 3500km in the South Island , which was mainly on the coarse road surfaces of the West Coast , several Coro-Loops and the Old Russell Road to name a few . As I ride all year round , I need tyres that I can trust . So as we head from Autumn into Winter , I know that the 01SEs will be perfect for the coming season ’ s riding , no matter what our fickle weather throws at me .
