ride better ; to get your lines right , brake properly and open the corner as wide as you can , and not just sit like a passenger , is well rewarded . Maybe in that , the magic and the mix is still intact . Having spent time with both models the difference is noticeable . They are both masterpieces of engineering , and if you haven ’ t ridden the 1200 R , it ’ s of no consequence at all . It may just be my personal issue . But that ’ s the inner journey of motorcycling ; finding what we like . More , it ’ s finding and learning what we love . And I do love the Thruxton 1200s . However , my neck is a work in progress after years of abuse , accidents and endless treatments , and it ’ s pretty much shagged . So the Thruxton is my past . But , by god , that lovely long torque heave , as you roll thrumming into the sunset . Tarmac surfing .
