The final round of the 2017 / 18 NZ Vinduro Series will be held at Atiamuri on Sunday May 6 at the same venue as the iconic Roger White Trail rides of decades past. The famous volcanic loam makes for great riding conditions and Sean Clarke and the Forest Trail team are organising two loops, comprising about 70 kilometres, each comprising tight single track, twisty bulldozed two track, and slippery-as gravel roads. There will be two grades with Gold and Silver course options, with a shorter 50km Silver option. Six classes of bikes are catered for from the sexy 60s to the naughty 90s, details of these are on the Vinduronz website. No lights are required, though all machines must have effective mufflers and fuel systems. Those with even more modern bikes can enter the Trail Class. Signposted from SH1 north from Taupo and south from Tokoroa. Sign on is from 8:00am with a 10:00am start. Entries are $ 65 with BBQ and burgers supplied. For more info call Sean Clarke 027 599 6046 and head to www. vinduronz. com to find out about Vinduro classes. Series points and results are available at http:// silverbullet. co. nz / events. php

NH MINI MX

The 2018 North Harbour Mini Motocross Club Cyclespot Group King of the North event was a fantastic day of racing at the Citymove Makarau Track. With a record 137 riders and dry conditions the racing proved to be spectacular. The conditions became a little dusty, but all of the kids were improving throughout the day. Seven classes with trophies to cover all the ages, meant everyone had a ball, not to mention the random spot prizes from Fox, Broxy Training and Motomuck. Neil‘ Turbo Sound’ Ritchie was commentator and he really helped make the event.

MX Timing logged the standout performers, who were Lachlan Bourne in the Impact Gates 85cc class( he’ s been on his 85 less than a year), Tyler King was perfect winning all races in the 30 strong 65cc 9-11 Tristram European class, Hayden Draper won the 65cc 7-8 Lenses Online class, Emme Millar clinched the Senior Trail Glasgow Contractors class on her TT-R125, Ollie Smith won in Dingo Groundworx MX50 6-8, Nico Verhoeven won the Wheelfixit Intro MX50 4-7, Aston Peck smoked them in Fallow & Co 6-8 intro Trail 50 and Eli Hankins won Kelly Workshop intro Trail 50 4-5.
