CHASSIS In the early years Yamaha chassis were set up for the American market – stable but slow steering . This meant they were not particularly good in tight turns . Over the last 20 years the steering has gradually improved , but in the last 10 Yamaha has really got with the programme and now they turn very well – a true match for the best available . This new 2024 WR450F has gone a step further with the new chassis . Along with the new compact nature of the frame , the steering
stem is dropped 15mm and head angle is an aggressive , sharp turning 26 degrees . The triple clamps / bars are a little closer to the rider but still with two positions forward and back for the bar clamp posts . Suspension travel has been reduced about 10mm to around 300mm each end . The overwhelming feel from the chassis is balance . It feels very planted and stable and yet has great agility . Between your legs the WR is very slim , but great to grip with your legs and light to control through the footpegs . However , despite
