Honda’ s season isn’ t getting any better. Jake Dixon will miss Misano to help his wrist heal
Soomer’ s first run, as Petrucci’ s stand-in on the BMW, didn’ t even last a lap before a crash ended his race, whilst teammate VDM dug in for a gritty 11th. Yamaha’ s Andrea Locatelli crashed whilst sitting in 11th, his bike spinning across the infield and back out on to the track and, whilst Loka was uninjured, it was a lucky miss that his bike didn’ t take out a couple of the following riders. Further down the pack, Alberto Surra did well to get himself into a points scoring position after his back of grid start, but he would’ ve been left thinking how much better it would have been to start on the front row. Jake Dixon, who had qualified in fourteenth, finished in 16th, but that was the end of the weekend for him, as his wrist just wasn’ t raceready and there was no point in risking more damage. The decision was made for him to sit out the next round at Misano, which gives Dixon six weeks to recover before Round Eight, at Donington Park. Ryan Vickers will fill Dixon’ s seat at Misano.
