DIRT NEWS

WOOHOO! COURTNEY DUNCAN IS BA-ACK!

Yes, a certain name has posted a fourth place in her first outing in the WMX Championship. Slipping quietly back into the ranks, our very own four-time World Champion stepped back into the fray after more than a year off due to illness. Straight back to the pointy end at her first major event, the motocross world is in no doubt that the talented Kiwi has lost nothing during her recovery. With the first round under her belt, the South Island star will only get faster as she gets back into her winning ways. Posting a 12-4 score for the round, it saw the tough Southerner in eighth for the overall, which she called a win, just to be back. The rest of the field are on notice, Courtney is back at the gate and they all know what that means. Welcome back CD, your fans have missed you.

LUCIANO BENAVIDES SIGNS ON

Red Bull KTM have secured the exceptional services of Luciano Benavides with a multi-year contract that sees the Argentinian rider take on the FIM World Rally-Raid Championship for a while yet. The news came prior to his home round and, with the Dakar title on his mantlepiece, the vocal Argentinian fans will be out in force. His Dakar win was the tightest finish ever, taking the win by just two seconds after an epic battle. The sports-mad nation has a home-grown hero and Benavides knows what it means to the nation. Winning Dakar was a long-held dream. His sights are now on not only repeating the feat but taking the FIM title again. With the football nation not having the success of old recently, watching Benavides in action in Argentina may just look like a football stadium full of passionate fans – and that just has to be good for the sport of Rally-Raid.
