Sprint Race which gave him a much better grid position for Race Two which netted him another seventh-place finish. The Bimota boys each came out of the weekend with nineteen points and, as a result, Lowes sits sixth with Bassani seventh in the championship. Lowes is only six points behind Balda in fourth in twenty behind Montella in third so both are realistic targets.
NIL POINT Honda. Zero points. Again. Jake Dixon, who’ s been in recovery since his Phillip Island crash, will return for Round Six although he admits he won’ t be fully fit. Hopefully his return will give the team a real lift. They need one. Tommy Bridewell on the Superbike Advocates Ducati scored in all three races, an eighth in the sprint race being a highlight but backing that up with tenth in Race Two would’ ve been extremely satisfying. Taz Mackenzie on the MGM Optical Ducati went one better than Bridewell in the sprint, finishing seventh but a fall in Race Two marred what had otherwise been a positive weekend.
NEXT UP The teams had just two weeks to prepare for Round Six, the midway point of the season, at MotorLand Aragón. Would Lecuona finally break Bulega’ s winning streak? Will we see some more of the action that we’ ve seen in the top ten battles between riders including Balda, Surra, Gerloff, and the Lowes brothers? Here’ s hoping.
