Australian moto-maestro Jett Lawrence had what he called“ Not too bad of a day” at the Hangtown Motocross Classic round of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship. By not too bad, he means he won the overall with a third and a win. With searing heat being one of the biggest challenges on the day, Jett didn’ t get the best start but managed to head up to third and made the call to just ride it out rather than ramp up the work rate required to chase the two lead riders, who made a break while he was regaining ground from as low as eighth place after the first few turns. Knowing there was another race all too soon, it was a calculated call that did rely on a better launch in Race Two … The gate dropped and Jett Lawrence was second into Turn One with his brother Hunter right on his heels. Soon though, Jett passed for the lead and from there was never really in doubt, eventually crossing the line ten seconds clear in a heat-shortened race. His overall lead over second placed Aaron Plessinger is now 95- 79 which he is hoping to extend in Colorado at the next round, fully aware how fast that gap can close with one mistake. Right behind Plessinger is Eli Tomac on 79 and Justin Cooper on 76. Right on their heels though is the other brother, Hunter, on 74. With one Lawrence ahead and one right behind, could the Australian brothers do the unthinkable and do the One-Two in the series?
