VIVA LA FEBVRE

For French Fans, it just doesn’ t get better than to see their home hero take the French round of the FIM MXGP of France victory. It wasn’ t an easy win though, and it didn’ t even look feasible as Febvre was mired in the field in Race One and had to pull every passing strategy he had out of the box to grind his way towards the front. One by one, the Frenchman made his way forward but Belgian teen sensation, Lucas Coenen was a bridge too far and despite closing in, the flag went to Coenen, who took his seventh moto win so far this season. Race Two saw Febvre get a better start but Coenen had blasted through to the front and was on a mission. Febvre took a couple of attempts to get past Seewer but eventually set the huge crowd alight as he got the pass done and rapidly shut down Coenen’ s lead. Grabbing the lead in the steepest section by using a line that he saw developing during the racing, the crowd went into the type of frenzy

only the French crowds can go into … Meanwhile, Coenen seemed to get a second wind. Just in time to fend off a determined late assault from Seewer, Coenen then closed in on the Frenchman at the front, adding fuel to the crowd’ s intensity as they watched the battle not only for the race, but the round, on their soil. Febvre dug deep to hold off the young Belgian star and took the moto win, the round and increased his lead in the series as the circus heads to Germany for the next instalment. Febvre did say he felt the pressure in front of his home fans, which on the Erny circuit has the crowds closer than at many courses. Hearing the crowd go wild and then up the ante again in the latter stages, Febvre knew Coenen was hunting him and riding super well. Not wanting to disappoint his fanatic French fans, he looked not just happy but somewhat relieved when the helmet came off. The toast of France.
