SOUTHLAND TOPS THE CHARTS

All roads lead to Southland when it comes to chart-topping success in motorcycling. Not only did the Southland Motorcycle Club take out top honours, with special mention to the revamped and hugely successful Burt Munro Challenge, in the Club category but Cormac Buchanan took out the Best Up And Coming Road Rider as well as the coveted Male Rider Of The Year as well. Needless to say, the Southland contingent were all smiles at the after-do.“ It was a proud night for the club” said Bill Moffat, president of SMCC. Bill heaped praise upon the group of passionate volunteers who put in countless hours to make the sport thrive.

Cormac Buchanan successfully defended his 600 Supersport title before heading back to embark on a stellar season in Europe.“ Regardless of where I’ m racing around the world, I just have to glance down at that Burt Munro logo on my leathers for a little piece of home so it’ s amazing to have their support throughout this journey, the Southland club has played a massive part in my racing – they were the first to encourage me onto the track and have been right behind me ever since.
