BETA XTRAINER
B eta ’ s 2022 XTrainer models have been revealed , with the Italian firm pitching the new models as the best way to get back into the outdoors after the shocker that was 2020 . Continuing the XTrainer ’ s tradition of being Beta ’ s most versatile model , the 2022 XTrainer sees a lower seat height of 910mm and underneath the new graphics is a featherweight 98kg dry weight to ensure it is both accessible and fun . That should help it not only appeal to younger enthusiasts to the enduro world , but also capable of offering more experienced riders a rewarding experience . Available in 250cc and 300cc 2-stroke versions , the 2022 XTrainer has seen a number of improvements in the name of reliability ( always nice out on the trail ) as well as a revised clutch . Beta kicks off its reliability upgrades with a new starter motor , while the Xtrainer ’ s electrical system has also been tweaked . Beta claims that the layout of the bike ’ s electrical system has been revised for both improved reliability and makes components quicker to remove and replace . For 2022 the XTrainer ’ s clutch comes with diaphragm springs to make the clutch
action lighter , more progressive and more controllable , to reduce rider fatigue . Both engagement and disengagement have been improved , while the clutch is now capable of transmitting even more torque according to Beta . To allow for totally customisable set-up , three different spring preload settings are available , adjustable with a simple mechanical procedure . The XTrainer 300 also sees a number of engine changes for the coming model year including an all-new larger bore cylinder , a new piston and a new power valve . Beta has also swapped in a new shorter throw crankshaft , for a shorter piston stroke than the previous model . The cylinder head is also completely new , and has been redesigned to complement the other new components . The new engine also gets a dedicated new engine control unit map , and according to Beta boasts smoother and more progressive response to throttle input and more linear power delivery . The bike as a whole is also easier to handle , providing a smoother riding approach . The 2022 Beta XTrainer is expected to arrive in Kiwi dealers from late August with pricing to be confirmed closer to release .
