BMW not particularly happy at the moment
of the mix. BMW’ s Miguel Oliveira has openly acknowledged that he’ s courting other teams and perhaps he has eyes on Aruba. it but being Portugese won’ t help his case either.
BMW Donington was not a happy hunting ground for Oliveira or the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK team, back at full strength with Danilo Petrucci returning from injury. Neither rider qualified well and Oliveira’ s 11th in Race 1 was the best result for the team all weekend. This was the same outfit that won the WorldSBK title with Toprak in 2024 and 2025 and whilst El Turko’ s talent was clearly a factor in that result, not being able to even crack top 10 through a race weekend won’ t sit well with team principal Shaun Muir. The BMW team was expected to make decisions on their 2027 lineup close to the Donington round but has elected to delay until after the next round, at Magny-Cours, in
September. Both Oliveira and Petrucci have been absent for multiple rounds through injury recently and this complicates making an assessment as to whether they’ re the best fit for next season. Neither rider has had their renewal options triggered and whilst it seems likely that they would want to hold on to Oliveira, there seems to be less certainty for Petrux. Oliveira openly courting other teams muddies the waters even more. Could BMW be a good fit for Jack Miller if he did come across to WorldSBK?
DUCATI SATELLITE TEAMS MGM Optical Ducati’ s Taz Mackenzie crashed in FP2 leaving him with concussion and possible shoulder injuries which counted him out for the rest of the weekend and Alberto Surra, the rapidly improving MotoCorsa Ducati rider, was ruled unfit to race after a‘ shoulder impairment’ issue surfaced after FP3.
