THE BEND, AUSTRALIA FOR WSBK 2028
While lamenting the demise of Phillip Island for MotoGP and WSBK, don’ t cry into your beer for too long. WSBK will be at The Bend, in South Australia from 2028. The Bend is a relatively new circuit and the facilities are fantastic and getting better as the preparations get underway in earnest. A different track but even easier to get to for us and accommodation will possbily be easier as well. Dates on the calendar are not locked in yet but as soon as they are, they will be here so you can plan your( our) trip.,
PIRELLI TESTS MOTOGP TYRES
The first official test by all teams of the new tyres took place in Brno, and it was smoking hot. With Europe in a heatwave, the tyres got a real litmus test under the pump. Some teams had both the new 850 machines and reconfigured current models to stress test the new hoops in race, sprint race and qualifying conditions. Pirelli announced they were more than happy with the quality of feedback and suggestions from the riders and teams. For the teams it was the first genuine opportunity to see if they are heading in the right direction with setup, moving into the next era. In a season that will see the removal of ride height devices, reduced aero packages and the smaller capacity, as well as new rubber, the teams are severely under the pump to come up with a strategy to start the new era well. Nobody can afford to start the 2027 season on the back foot as the difference between the riders and teams is just so slim that any weakness will see them tumble down the order, a disaster in modern motorsport.
