PETE ’ S PEOPLE
Day 4 : Nikau Caves , Tony leading his idea of what a good motorcycle should be . He had a few changes finding his perfect bike . When we first met he had a Harley , and then shortly thereafter a succession of Triumphs , but he hated the way the engines would ‘ run on ’ instead of giving engine braking . At the time there was a strong contingent of R9Ts in the Every Suns group and there was a lot of peer pressure for him to try one . He still didn ’ t like the look of them , but after he rode one he liked the way they fell into corners , and the 1200 twin was a delightful power unit without being nuts . He bought one and hated it . He couldn ’ t get the configuration right , but after having the suspension sorted and the perfect amount of exceptional customisation and tasteful bling , the ride and handling were sorted , and the aesthetics finally pleased him . “ But ,” he says , “ the full attraction grew out of the practicality of the bike ”. Tony is driven by art and aesthetics , and his bikes have to measure up to his fastidious gaze . Having worked for international fashion
