HARD ENDURO – IT IS ALL IN THE NAME

The Hard Enduro Series, or FIM HEWC for the acronym lovers, staged the latest round, called The Silver Kings Hard Enduro, in Kellog, Idaho( USA) and featured an intense SuperEndurostyle prologue, followed by two gruelling days in the mountains. With Mani Lettenbichler( KTM) and Billy Bolt( Husqvarna) taking first and second at the previous Erzberg round, it was expected to be a duel in Idaho as well. While Mani had a great weekend, yet again, Bolt, despite his form, had a weekend to forget. It wasn’ t his form that started the frustrations though, a technical issue with his bike saw him on the back foot after retiring in the prologue, starting an uncharacteristic fifteenth.
Second on the day was Trystan Hart( KTM) who showed good form all weekend, followed by GASGAS riders Mitch Brightmore and Wade Young. With a break from the series until September, the rest of the field have work to do to bridge what is now an 18-point lead Mani Lettenbichler has over Brightmore with two rounds down, five more gruelling events to go. Hard on man and machine, the sport has gained massive momentum in Europe with the crowd growing noticeably from round to round, season to season as fans watch bikes like they ride doing what most people would consider near impossible sections.
