Kiwi Rider July 2024 Vol.2 | Page 96

fixed by Triumph with a software update . I ’ m not keen on the textured matt paint finish on the wheel rims , which is hard to clean . I ended up cleaning them , then very carefully applying some CRC ( to avoid contaminating the discs and pads ) to stop the dirt getting into the textured finish . I ’ m not a fan of keyless ignition either . The Tiger ’ s is no better or worse than any other manufacturer ’ s , I just don ’ t like it . There is the possibility of the key dropping out of your pocket while riding , but there ’ s also the thing where the battery in the key gets low and needs to be changed . I have enough batteries in my life that need charging , I don ’ t need my motorcycle key to have one too .
THE SKINNY For gravel adventuring the Tiger 1200 Rally Pro opens up some of our best riding , like the Molesworth or Rainbow Roads , but you ’ d want to be a big and strong , or a good , rider to go further off the track than that . It rips on tight and twisty tar seal , and doesn ’ t care if the surface turns to shit . It eats up solo or two-up touring and you ’ ll never need to worry about a road turning to gravel 20km in . As a ‘ do-it-all ’ bike , Triumph ’ s Tiger 1200 Rally Pro does , indeed , do it all .
