waters . We met up at another road house to fuel up and head up the highway to the start of the Telegraph Track where we spent the night eating delicious sirloin steaks , pudding , and for most of us , soft drinks . The staff couldn ’ t believe that half the tour group were non-drinkers . They would not have made much from the beer sales compared to a couple of trips earlier where the Aussies drank an average of 20 cans each per night . Pete in the supply truck had to purchase more Coke and Sprite to keep us going . It must be said that Pete is amazing and only new to the team . He had the truck set up when we arrived , chairs out , the obligatory camp fire going and the beds and gear bags laid out ready for us .
DAY FIVE The pinnacle of the ride – the world renowned Old Telegraph Track ( see pic pages 32-33 ). This includes the likes of the famous Gunshot Drop , stick bridges , deep water crossings , single trail tracks , 4WD trails and some fast and furious sand blasts . We had all seen the YouTube videos , heard the stories and been teased about the crocs , so it was into the breach to conquer this famous icon . Some of the drops into the rivers were gnarly , as were the exits . We came across Gunshot to find that for motorcycles , there were plenty of ways round , although Jono was goaded into tackling the drop and deep mud , which he did with ease . The rest didn ’ t see the point of getting muddy for no reason .
