lowest score on each of the three days , finishing 24 points ahead of Hawkes Bay ’ s Ricky Hamilton in the overall standings . One of the standout performances this year , was by 11-year-old Zack Furniss , who finished third . Zack , who is from Wainuiomata , was riding a 125cc Vertigo and may be the next young trials champion to come from the Ixion Club , following in the footsteps of both Jake Whitaker and Dylan Ball .
Intermediate ( Yellow ) Eleven riders rode the yellow line and it was also a close contest . Balclutha ’ s Neil Belvoir led for the first two days , dropping only two points by the end Day 2 . On the third day , however , he had three fives and as a result dropped from first to third overall behind Mike Owen ( Taranaki MCC ) and Ross Bristol ( Pioneer MCC ). Mike had a total of 11 points for the weekend , while Ross finished on 21 , one point ahead of Neil .
Sportsman ( Green ) Nineteen riders rode the green line . Wayne Furniss , who is Zack ’ s father , rode his 1986 aircooled Honda TLM to a comfortable win in this class . On Sunday he lost no points and this gave him an 11-point margin over Alexandra ’ s Grant
