COMPACT BUT NOT CRAMPED Considering all this , the 200 Beta will be a compelling choice for many . It ’ s a full-sized bike with a tall seat height of 930mm , but somehow it feels small without feeling cramped . The whole machine is very flat with the fuel tank no higher than the seat . It feels light , is quick , capable and manageable . It suits smaller and less experienced riders very well , but won ’ t disappoint older , wiser riders either and no doubt has the goods to surprise many . The Sachs suspension of the RR is very good . I ’ m a 100kg unit suited up , maybe more after the festive season and , yes , it was on the soft side for my bulk . However , I wouldn ’ t change a thing for
an Enduro race ... so it ’ s not that soft . Compliant suspension action that doesn ’ t tire the rider out is the way forward . If it bottoms out occasionally , who cares ? That is preferable to having a bike deflecting off every root and rock , wearing the rider out prematurely . Besides , it will be firmer for younger , quicker guys purely because they ’ re lighter . The action is great at both ends . Plush , controlled and progressive . Sachs has done a very good job . Front wheel travel is slightly less than 300mm and the rear has about 290mm axle travel . Ground clearance is a healthy 12.8 inches in old money or 325.12mm . The Beta has Nissin brakes – happy days . The
