BABY HARLEYS ARRIVE IN DEALERSHIPS

It ’ s been a while since Harley-Davidson had a new Learner Approved model for riders wanting to get into the brand on the bottom rung of the ladder , but , finally , the Bar and Shield ’ s latest LAMS models have arrived in Kiwi dealerships . The long-awaited new bikes , the X350 and X500 are now available for purchase from dealers across New Zealand following the models ’ initial unveiling in September 2023 . Both the new X350 and X500 are the results of Harley working with Chinese manufacturer Qianjiang Motor ( QJ Motor ), the owners of the Benelli brand , on whose platforms the new parallel twin bikes are based , with the aesthetic design of the new bikes taking place in Milwaukee and taking their styling cues from some of the Motor Company ’ s most iconic models . Both bikes represent Harley-Davidson ’ s return to the Learner Approved Motorcycles Scheme ( LAMS ) segment after the Street 500 was officially discontinued in 2021 , with Harley stating the aim is to create an opportunity for “ new and returning riders alike to score a ride on the world ’ s most iconic motorcycle brand .” “ We ’ re happy to bring the lightweight yet high-performance Harley-Davidson X 350 and X 500 to market that bears all the hallmarks of the Harley-Davidson brand and allows more people than ever before to swing a leg over a Harley-Davidson motorcycle ,” said Nigel Keough , Managing Director for Harley-Davidson Australia and New Zealand . The X350 is available from authorised Harley- Davidson dealerships with a New Zealand Ride Away Price of $ 9495 in Dramatic Black , Dynamic Orange , Supersonic Silver and Pearl White . The larger capacity X500 is priced at $ 12,750 and available in Dramatic Black , Dynamic Orange , Supersonic Silver and Pearl White . If the idea of a Chinese-built LAMS Harley rankles your feathers , the discontinued Indianmade V-twin Street 500 remains a popular option on the second-hand market .
