YAMAHA R9 WORLDSSP PROJECT

It came as no surprise to anyone when Yamaha announced a faired version of the MT-09 . The only real eye-opener was Yamaha was already well down the path of developing it for WorldSSP duty straight away . Through stinging eyes , many are still coming to terms with the demise of the iconic R6 , it being so successful during its 25-year reign . Yes , a quarter of a century and the R6 has been there , racking up ten WorldSSP titles on the way . In fact , Yamaha ’ s R6 won that first WorldSSP race and , uncannily , also won the final race of 2024 . But with new rules meaning change or get swept aside , the Tuning Fork Team had been developing the new CP3 into what they hope will be a worthy successor . Testing so far suggests they have the platform right and even after only a few outings , their riders are excited about the 2025 season .
