The Chinese motorcycling giant CFMOTO, which has broken into the growing adventure market with models such as the 450MT and 800MT, is continuing to populate the market with affordable, techpacked machines. It flexes on the competition by matching specs and gadgets, all while being significantly cheaper than most. And that’ s certainly the case with the company’ s new sporty three-cylinder 675SR-R and 675NK models.
APPLES TO APPLES I was excited to get comparing the CFMOTOs with bikes I’ ve spent time riding recently, including the Aprilia 660, Yamaha MT-07 and Honda CBR650RR. On paper, at least, the Chinese faired and naked triples should give these bikes a good run for their money, especially considering the sub- $ 13,000 price tags.
SHOWROOM STYLE I think the faired SR-R looks striking with very modern styling cues, classic colours and some quite flashy parts. I’ m impressed, it looks exciting, well-equipped and capable. The angry headlights caught my eye first, followed by the winglets and tidy rear end. It’ s‘ showroom sexy’. The chromium-molybdenum steel frame looks cool, with a little rubber block to stop your riding gear from rubbing off the paintl a great idea. The general controls all look great for the price too, more than I was expecting from a low-ticket price supersport bike. The colours are cool and the fairings are OK- they have quality appropriate for the price tag. The 5-inch TFT display shows exactly what you need to see plus a little extra. Tyre pressure monitors are standard, a great function for the daily riders who need a bit of extra encouragement for the basic maintenance aspect, which are often neglected. Lots of trip information is scattered throughout, and there’ s easy adjustment of the two-level traction control. My only note would be its brightness, which was quite
