On a daylong ride I really need to be able to move about on the seat , to give my battered back , neck and hips a break , and there ’ s movement galore to be had . A not to be underestimated advantage . Looking over the bike at a roadside stop , one can begin to see some things that you may not immediately notice , it was pointed out to me that the bracket which held the front and rear pegs , plus various torsional elements , was all one cast bracket . In offroad or tough terrain , if this was hit or damaged , it would necessitate replacing the whole thing , rather than just a peg , for example , but it ’ s not necessarily something you ’ d think of at first glance . In terms of delivery , the quality is high , I could not fault the finish and it has definite presence . The longer I was around the bike the more I enjoyed its practicality and the effortless way it delivers the ride . It ’ s like someone you fancied , but never chased , who then turned out to be the kindest person you ever met . You ’ d grow into it and then love it with all your heart , I suspect . Competition wise , it ’ s going to be up against the Triumph Tiger 660 , Aprilia Tuareg and Yamaha Tenere 700 , to name three , and until recently it would have been considerably cheaper than all , but with recent exchange rate horrors that differential has closed a bit , but the others are creeping further north in price [ Yamaha ’ s Tenere is now $ 19,600 rideaway , and not LAMS legal either - Ed ). The beauty of the Moto Morini is the extras package is extensive and stylish . If you want great Italian heritage , some great styling , strong componentry , and a decent build quality in an affordable and likeable package , with considerably less outlay than any other Italian , I ’ d think a test ride would be earnestly called for . It might just grab your heart .
