PRODUCT REVIEW
roads , so your mileage may definitely vary ( pun intended ) on this front .
OFF THE TAR Being a 50-50 tyre , the off-road performance of the Shinko ’ s is just as important as the on-road , and once again they haven ’ t disappointed . Keep in mind I ’ m not trail riding with these tyres and most of the “ off-road ” riding conditions I find myself tackling have been gravel / dirt roads . That said , I ’ ve also squeezed in a bit of sand and some mud / clay riding with them and they ’ ve performed as I ’ d hoped , with a decent amount of grip that suits my ability and speed off road and they ’ ve not got me into any grief .
WEAR AT 6000KM For the money , I ’ m already pretty happy with the wear on the Shinkos . They ’ ve already far outlasted the factory IRC rubber by 1000km and still have 3mm remaining in the centre of the E805 rear tyre , with plenty more life left in the front . As you ’ d expect the rear wears faster than the front and I ’ ve not particularly helped this with my off-tar riding involving spinning the rear up whenever I can . I reckon I ’ ve got another 1500km or so left on the rear which would put tyre life out to 7500km , if I treated the rear nicely I ’ m sure it would get far more mileage than that [ bear in mind this is a 250cc machine - Ed ) At this stage , it looks like I ’ ll be getting another E805 and run that until both are in need of replacing . Then I ’ ll look at what my immediate riding needs will be and go from there .
