Covid-19 has claimed another championship this season , with MNZ confirming in late January that the 2022 New Zealand Motocross Championships will not go ahead as planned . With the nation moving to the Red setting in a bid to slow the spread of the latest variant of the virus , the hands of organisers were tied with events limited to a maximum number of 100 people - clearly far and beyond a number unsuitable to attempt to hold a national championship event .
