KTM 390 ADVENTURE X AND ADVENTURE R HEADING TO NZ
The long-awaited Adventure version of the LC4c-powered KTM is on its way ( following hot on the heels of the 390 Enduro R that we covered in the last issue ). With the smaller adventure market exploding , like many thought it would , ahem , Team KTM has entered the fray with two brand new offerings , the KTM Adventure X and its more hardnosed off-piste brother , the KTM 390 Adventure R . Utilising an engine that has been entertaining Kiwi riders for years in the LAMS-legal road market , the most obvious new model imaginable has broken cover and KTM looks to have met the challengers in the burgeoning sector head-on . KTM has all the credentials required to hit the trail running and has pulled out
the stops with a duo of new bikes that certainly look like they have just stepped off the Dakar podium . If you want a smaller , lighter adventure model , or you have yet to get your full licence , take a long hard look at these two new models . The two new machines head in quite different directions , with the X version having a lower seat height and a more road-focused theme and the R living up to the reputation gained by the larger Adventure R models . Both models get WP APEX 32mm forks , with the X having no adjustment in the forks and preload adjustment at the rear . The R gets 30 clicks of compression and rebound adjustment in the forks to dial in your preferences for the terrain and 20 click rebound adjustment . Suspension travel is 230mm front and rear for the R
