happy place. I understand that may not be the case for everyone but for me, it is a lifeguard when I run out of talent, not a blanky for when I am feeling insecure. In Sport mode, that is exactly what it does and it does it well. It would let me explore the shallowness of my abilities without yelling at me – and it does not laugh out loud. Naturally, the SX has the very sexy bi-directional quickshifter well and truly sorted, making the left hand almost, but not quite, redundant. Better than the previous version, it operates at lower revs as well, right down to just 1500rpm. I have yet to experience a quickshifter that does better than a human around town or changing down in traffic without accelerating, just tweaking for an incline etc, so, yes, it is great – but around town, I’ m better … Nya nya. To be fair, I got grumpy in the city traffic after a while but the ZX1100SX didn’ t miss a beat.
CORNERING SENSITIVITY I am a bit of a fan-boy of the cornering-sensitive ABS that has been a part of the SX legacy for a long time now. It was an early adopter model for all the right reasons and that legacy is alive and well in the latest incarnation. It is more subtle, quicker reacting and more intuitive – I guess that is just progress. I did go out of my way to try and replicate situations where a fast and sporty tourer may need such assistance and it passed
