cornering without the rain sipes aggravating wear by encouraging that stepping or wave pattern occurring and reducing stability when enjoying the corner grip to full effect . Once you are leaned fully over , the continuous smooth tyre mimics a sports tyre to a seriously respectable degree , if you ’ ll pardon the pun . This applies to both ends . The compounds have also been updated , with the front being a single compound and the rear adding a harder central zone to enable the tyres to roll further without throwing away that wet cornering trick . As with many tyres in the current crop , cunning silica and carbon compounds are added to improve wet grip and control temperatures . Unlike the super sporty offerings , the Roadtec 01 SE has an uber-quick warm up time and doesn ’ t require the same level of heat to function , playing right into the ballpark of year-round riders . Having ridden in cold , wet conditions , the test on my not-sofavourite shiny patch really shows who is who in those ‘ variable ’ surface moments . The contrast between the haves and have nots tends to rear its head in the conditions we all hate but are a fact of life on the roads .
