the dirt-style silica inside waist making you think about what you tuck in and what you don ’ t – don ’ t go there ! I meant shirts , merino mid-layer etc . Again , Seeflex armour at hips and knees , the CE 1 version in these , rather than the pricier Level 2 as per the jacket . Removing the winter lining leaves the lower-leg gaiters in-situ , so rain and / or the odd river crossing won ’ t have your boots filling up and the quadricep ( thigh ) vents give your legs a welcome cool breeze on those summer rides . Again , the versatility placates my frugal gene as I get to thrash them all year round . Yup , I have Gore-Tex lined boots as well , but they are for another day ...
ARMOUR AND LININGS A little-known fact about Revit ! Products is they all can be zipped together , even the ‘ denim ’ range , care of compatible zippers , so my ‘ road ’ jacket has no issue connecting with the ‘ dirt series ’ pants . And they both have removable linings . Nothing surprising there . What is a tad weird is I have left the linings in for winter . Normally I remove the linings and , for some reason , keep them in a drawer , never to be seen again , until I find them long after the jacket has gone to its maker . I run a down vest under my jackets – like the modern expensive ones but not as pretty . With my new Revit ! jacket , I was pleasantly surprised to find its quilted liner works well . Not goose down well , but near enough for the North Island winter . With a CE 2 Seesoft RV4 back protector in situ and CE 1 or2 Seeflex armour on every biological joint , the new generation protection is unobtrusive as well as effective – happy as . I ’ ll do a piece on the options in armour for another time but not having to muck around trying to line up the planets and your armour to get dressed is a real world plus .
SMART LOOK Having been told many times I look alright with a dark visor , the Revit ! Kit does a more than decent job of making me look reasonable as I approach my bike , helmet on , sun visor down . I chose the dark blue option for the jacket as I have spent so many hours wearing black that
I had almost forgotten other colours existed . It is a smart looking jacket , and the armour is discreet enough to make it look like I have nice , straight , broad shoulders , rather than the slightly munted versions lurking beneath ( Cemetery Circuit Special ). So . Happy . Cheap ? No . Worth the stretch ? Yep , for sure . I ’ ll drop in updates as time and wear try to tear down the gear but for now , there you go . Upper mid-shelf with nice touches and a combo many tourer-come-adventure riders might want to consider . If anyone else is brave enough to send some kit for me to run through the wringer , let the team at KR know . If it passes the test , I will give it the appropriate praise . If it fails , it will get the same amount of space ...
