TRIUMPH’ S NEW-FOR-MOTO2 ENGINE
Just prior to the‘ home round’ at Silverstone,
Triumph revealed a new Moto2 engine. This new powerplant is the biggest change since Triumph took on the engine supplier role in 2019. Yep, this is the seventh season and the Triumph triple has proved to be everything that was hoped for. The new engine produces 6 per cent more power and weighs 2kg less. So, what has changed? Pretty much everything. New casings, gearbox, valve-train, ports, heads and, yet to be disclosed, a capacity change. Moto2 will see different lap times in 2027, making it an exciting season as the MotoGP class also has major changes. So, enough about the race scene... What does that mean for those of us not riding Moto2 at the moment? It is no secret that the over 2,000,000km of racing done on the Moto2 engines is great R & D for us mere mortals and the motorcycles we ride. It is also an established fact that Triumph’ s 765cc road machines have been hugely successful over the years. One can but wonder what tasty tidbits will trickle down to the insides of bikes in showrooms over the next few seasons...
