The British Round of the MotoGP calendar got off to a fairly inauspicious start, fumbling the ball on Saturday. Game over? Not on your life. Dusting himself off, he took the lead coming out of Turn 1 and never even glanced over his shoulder until driving out of the last turn toward the finish line 2.5 seconds clear of another couple of Aprilias as the Italian marque swept the podium. Silverstone is a fickle circuit and as such no one rider has really been able to claim it. Unlike some circuits on which the likes of Marc Marquez are unbeaten on, not a single MotoGP rider has managed to win the British round twice in the last twelve years. Staggering but Raul Fernandez is the twelfth rider to win in twelve years. The relative newcomer to the top class showing that he was a smart pick, particularly with his ability to adapt to the MotoGP machinery and the added challenge of major changes underway leading up to 2027. While his win sees him linger in sixth place overall, well behind Jorge Martin, who leads his teammate, Bezzecchi, by 31 points, he is demanding the attention of the paddock as he seems to be getting better every time he throws a leg over the Aprilia. Meanwhile, behind Bez is Ai Ogura, who had a weekend to forget, crashing out and then the omnipresent # 93 of Marc Marquez. # 93 had a tough day at the office but is still only 40 in arrears with ten rounds remaining. The man of the match though is the 25 year-old Spanish ace, Mr Raul Fernandez.
