LIVING LEGEND – NEVILLE WOODERSON QSM( BOOK)

At many events where classic machines are featured, toiling away somewhere will be a man many of the teams know but many outsiders have never heard of. Neville Wooderson QSM is a softly spoken man. Intelligent, articulate and modest, his C. V. is something to behold – but don’ t wait for Neville to tell you. You see, the brilliant classic motorcycle racer, now ace tinkerer and supporter of racers, is your quintessential quiet genius. He has raced the IOM TT, among other things. He is also the man literally at Sir Edmond Hillary’ s right hand in Nepal. Nev was in charge of the team that built Khunde Hospital in the Himalayas in

the Nepalese Khumbu region, among other vital projects in the area, including fresh water projects, schools etc. He was awarded the Queen’ s Service Medal for his services but he won’ t tell you that unless prompted or asked directly. In racing circles, his BSA Gold Star is known as that beautifully prepared machine raced at the famous circuit by the late Paul Dobbs and Chris Swallow. Incidentally, he also raced a BSA Gold Star in the Junior and Senior TT in 1953 before building a successful plumbing business and raising a family here in NZ.
