SECOND OPINION
At first glance, the Speed Triple is sleek, mean and just looks fast standing still. The all-black look with the updates for 2025 make it a true thing of beauty. I had been told that once I ride it I
might not want to give it back, and the root cause of this was the all-new electronic suspension. After some time in the seat, to say that it is nothing short of fantastic would be an understatement. Self-adjusting top of the line Öhlins that is, quite simply, a total game changer. I’ ve ridden a lot of Speed Triples and I love the motor. The suspension on previous models has been good, but nothing like this. It’ s effortless and provides an unbelievably comfortable and confidence-inspiring ride. For a bike that is clearly built for going fast, the comfort levels are through the roof. I have a pair of knees that give me grief most days and I usually can feel them start to tingle just looking at sportsbike rear sets, but these are different. I’ m not sure how, but the ergo’ s of the bars, seat and rear sets are very comfortable and it’ s a bike that can be ridden long distances without having to walk like a cowboy at the other end. Triumph seems to have listened and watched the market. and made an adjustment to this year’ s pricing. No, not the standard price increase we’ re used to seeing, it sees a price cut. This year’ s Speedie is cheaper but much higher spec’ d too, which is unheard of. All that said, I guess the important question is, would I own one? Quite simply, yes. BRENDAN ABEL
