’ m one lucky boy , let me tell you . Seriously . This summer I was extremely fortunate to be racing for M1 Motorsport after their rider Jaden Hassan injured himself in a pre-season testing crash . It took one phone call to Moggy ( Robert Ranshaw , team owner , manager and lead mechanic ), and I was a Superbike rider . The weapon of choice , a 2021 BMW S1000RR , to me the best looking bike in the paddock . As it all came about so quickly , we didn ’ t have a whole lot of time up our sleeves with Round 1 of the NZSBK Championship only four days away .
MEETING THE TEAM AND BIKE My first time meeting the team was practice day of Round One at Taupo . Unfortunately , it turned out to be a weekend of mostly sitting around as the track had issues and was pretty much unrideable . It turned out that this worked in our favour , as I got to spend more time with the team and get to know them on a more personal level - Moggy , Andrew , David and Noel , the A Team . We did manage to get out for a couple of sessions before it was eventually all called off , and I can tell you that , my goodness , does the S1000RR have some legs !
