DAY ONE Grand Results Master Jules Huguenin ( weirdly , on a Side Chair – now that is crazy stuff ) briefed the riders on the scoring system , the stewards and Clerk of Course did their bit , then everyone headed out to tackle the day ’ s obstacles . It was exciting to see at least nine female
competitors tackling the sections giving the boys a run for their money . Gabrielle Gundy showed her prowess riding the difficult Yellow Line , often making the guys feel inadequate as she cleaned and footed her way to the top of the Ladies class . John Lawton gave a master class lesson in consistency on his Yamaha TY175 in the Twin Shock Class and I even managed a respectable 3rd place for the day . Watch out for Finn Pearce who , although a Junior , rode against the big boys scoring third
