KTM TAKES CONTROL AT ENDUROGP

SARDINIA BELONGED TO KTM TEAM

The Italian island hosted MXGP, and Red

Bull KTM took all of the silverware home. Teenage Belgian sensation Lucas Coenen took both wins, leaving with the overall trophy and the red plate, while Simon Laengenfelder took the MX2 honours. Laengenfelder didn’ t dominate though, the other Coenen, Sasha, took the first moto and the teammates secured the overall win and second place with Laengenfelder holding on tight to that red plate. Sasha is now in second in the standings as well, explaining the grins in the team pits. Lucas Coenen is leading the MXGP class by 14 points and really does seem to like the look of that red plate on his bike. And he is only 19 … By all accounts, he is going to be pretty quick.
With the lead in EnduroGP, Enduro1 and Enduro2 classes at end of the opening round of the season in Sicily, Italy, it was a battle between teammates for the round win and pit bragging rights. Josep Garcia came out on top, just, ahead of Andrea Verona after race wins and podiums were shared between the friendly rivals. With Garcia on a 250 and Verona on a 450, the results see the duo lead their individual classes but Garcia is proving a class anomaly as he more often than not tops the charts overall, showing just how good a 250 can be in the right hands. The battle among the teammates continues and there will be rounds where the KTM 250 EXC-F may struggle to fend of its bigger brethren, the KTM 450 EXC-F but Garcia is just so good in the tight and technical sections that he will not let the big bikes passed without a fight. Besides, is the 250 really classed as an underdog with Josep on board?
