In use , the panniers will certainly allow you to carry a heap of gear on longer journeys and for around town duties the top box swallows a helmet and gloves . They ’ re pretty big , so they do extend the bike ’ s touring capabilities substantially , but like all larger luggage systems they do make the bike feel a fair bit bigger , particularly when they ’ re fully loaded ( and depending on your height , it can be more tricky to get on and off the bike ).
HAND-GUARDS The hand-guards were next on the fitting
list . They ’ re light weight and I ’ d say that they are basically for wind protection , rather than serious protection . In fact , even after very careful installation , the left hand hand-guard broke at the handlebar mount after a few days . I managed to repair it quite easily , but don ’ t expect them to endure much in the way of bushbashing – as I said , they ’ re pretty light weight . They do a decent job of keeping wind and rain off your hands , but for more adventurous situations a set of metal reinforced units would be the go .
