Motorcycle racing and motorcycle sales are not as robust as they were‘ back in the day’ but our sport is not alone in that regard. The MotoFest format is part of a rebranding and rejuvenation process that is being launched to recover the popularity and prestige that has, to be brutally frank, been struggling in the modern era, particularly since the lockdowns and restrictions of a few short years ago. To battle the white noise of so many different pastimes, both real and virtual( yes, it affects us as well) the boffins in charge are endeavoring to shape the sport in such a manner that we first and foremost keep existing fans but also lure into the racing world that fickle new demographic of youth. To broaden the appeal, this year’ s MotoFest Motorcycle Show added a couple of key words to its title, announcing that this is more than just a race meeting. For those who attended, it was obvious that the message did get to those who, while aware of the racing, never really attended events.
