The visor is Pinlock anti-fog ready and there ’ s a Pinlock insert in the box . The last thing I ’ ll mention is the finish . Arai helmets have alway been premium helmets and this one is no exception . The finish is gorgeous , with a metallic speckle / sparkle in the paint . Once I ’ ve fitted my Cardo and it ’ s had some hours on my head I ’ ll report back with more .

That takes me on to the new helmet ’ s threehelmets-in-one system . The first is as the helmet is delivered - the adventure helmet . Press the side-pod button on each side and the peak pops off to make it a road helmet ( the retainer for the visor needs to be taken off the peak ). Then take the visor off and put the peak back on you ’ ve got a dirt helmet for use with goggles ( the X4 could be used with goggles , but only with the visor pushed up ). The sidepods tabs are a little fiddly to slot into their home , but I did it without reading the manual , so will get easier with practice I ’ m sure .
