which we do in between the adventure rides and it ’ s almost out of control now . We do a really big one in Taranaki called ‘ Farm Bike Wild West ’. A mate of mine has a farm out there and thirty guys start on Thursday lunchtime and finish on Sunday lunchtime with two nights at the Whangamōmona pub . It ’ s super popular and a lot of fun . Anything that ’ s sold as a farm bike is allowed . Suzuki DR200 , Yamaha AG200 , Kawasaki Stockman ; basically anything that ’ s a purpose built farm bike .“
What trips have you done overseas ? “ We ’ ve been to India and Vietnam . Then some of us went to South America and rode through Bolivia , Argentina , Peru , and Chile . Years ago I freighted my bike to LA and four of us rode from Los Angeles to Panama and back again . That was a pretty interesting trip . It was quite a ride through Arizona , Mexico , Guatemala , Honduras , Nicaragua , Costa Rica , and Panama . The best way to see a country is on a motorcycle . You ’ re immersed in it . You can smell it , and you can feel it . If you pull up somewhere , you ’ re a point of interest because other people always come over and talk to you . If I pulled up in a car no one would give a fat rat ’ s arse because no one cares about people in cars . The motorcycle community is
really close knit and helpful and we ’ ve always had lots of offers of places to stay or getting something fixed when we ’ ve been riding around foreign countries . It ’ s an awesome hobby to be involved in .”
