OUR BIKES
mini-me Le Mans it was styled after . Upon its arrival by transporter from it ’ s previous owner ’ s regional location , a good walk around and inspection had me conclude that , although generally very tidy , I felt the bike was let down by the few scratches and dents in the original style mufflers . The mufflers were also quite well baffled , so in the spirit of ‘ be safe , be heard ’ and in pursuit of the aforementioned intoxicating sound , I would research and source some aftermarket , but period-looking replacements . The old interweb didn ’ t really offer up many options , and those listed from overseas manufacturers were looking to be in the region of $ 2-3k by the time they were landed !
LOCAL EXPERTISE So , time to think locally ... and , as I ’ ve done in the past , it was off to Peter Mackley at Custom Chambers to discuss what I was after and hope he could create the desired look . Peter has been providing both stock-styled and modified motorcycle exhaust upgrades for a number of decades and many riders across NZ consider him the go-to guy for any motorcycle exhaust work . I should have looked no further , as Peter has undertaken transplants for me on other bikes over the years and I know his experience covers a vast array of brands and styles of bike . Peter explained he ’ d provided a multitude of exhaust upgrades to Guzzi ’ s , so he knew exactly what I was after when we discussed the brief of sound and period reverse-cone styling sought . The standard headers would be retained and the new mufflers would slip on and mount
