Ultimate North Adventure Tour
D
esigned primarily to suit riders of the larger
dual-sport models, though there’s no reason why
you couldn’t ride a smaller road-legal trailbike,
the Yamaha Ultimate North Adventure Tour promises
the best adventure riding available in the very north
of this beautiful country. Magnificent sunrises in the
east are matched by superb sunsets in the west - only
88km away - but the tides are different, the
coastlines are different and the relaxed rural-
influenced towns of the Hokianga are in contrast to
the busier, more affluent towns of Paihia and Russell
on the edge of the Bay of Islands.
The Yamaha Ultimate North will incorporate a blast
down 90 Mile Beach, a visit to Tane Mahuta – the
giant kauri, stunning private farmland, and other
places that showcase Northland’s beauty.
As well as three full days of fantastic riding, the
package includes delicious meals and
accommodation is in quality, fully-serviced hotels.
Even better, the Britton team will carry all your gear in
their support vehicle. This adventure starts and
finishes in the Bay Of Islands over April 27-29.

Raglan Adventure Ride
T
he Britton team has decided it is time for another
adventure ride in Raglan. The April 14 event is
based from the Raglan Club and is open to all
brands of adventure-suitable motorcycles. Organiser
Mike Britton, and his sidekick, Raglan local Alan Hall,
have pulled out all the stops and promise a ride that
will suit most adventure riders – from those new to
adventure riding, and also the experienced adventure
rider. “We will show some of the most stunning scen-
ery in the western Waikato area including sweeping
coastal views right down to Taranaki,” said Mike.
The Yamaha Raglan Adventure Ride, is suitable for
all road-legal trail/enduro type motorbikes and the
larger dual-sport models. The ride is self-navigated,
using route sheets, so you can ride at your own pace.
The Raglan event will differ from previous Britton
one-day events in that camping and breakfasts are
not included and this is reflected in the entry cost.
The Britton crew promise their usual high standard of
event, with uncomplicated route sheets, some trail
sections for those on smaller bikes, delicious and
plentiful food for lunch and Saturday’s dinner, and a
damn good day of adventure.
Back in the mid-90s most adventure riders would
74 KIWI RIDER
ride their adventure bikes, loaded with camping gear,
to venues through-out New Zealand, complete a full
days adventure riding, then ride home again the
following morning. We have been delighted to see a
revival of this in recent times. We also welcome the
appearance of classic machines, such as Phil Winter
with his 1978 Yamaha IT400, Dave Cole with his 1972
Yamaha RT2 DT250 Yamaha, Alan Hall and his 1979
XR500 and Tom Brodie on his vert tidy 1977
YamahaTT500.
