What ever Triumph’s methodology, and
their e erience re ing for oto
next year has probably helped, they have
delivered a major leap ahead with the Speed
Triple. It is the bike that makes you question
your own purchase, in a seriously calculating
way. The treble scream of earlier iterations
has all but dissipated, and the engine sound
produces a tumescent growl.
Willing and joyous, is how I’d describe the
performance and it was exceptionally hard
to return to the track after a mere twenty
three or so klicks. But of course that one
way arena beckoned and I was drawn like
a newly-paid miner to the charms of the
bordello on half price night.
I went home happy and enlivened by the
day and by the offering from the Hinckley
stable, I have a way to go to get to the limits
of the Thruxton R on track days, but I can
see the next step already. It has the word
Speed in its name.
