PANIGALE V4 25°ANNIVERSARIO 916 HEADS TO AUCTION F ollowing the death of Ducati Pike’s Peak champion Carlin Dunne at this year’s Pike’s Peak International Hill Climb, Ducati has announced that one of the limited-edition Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916 will be auctioned off in support of the newly created Carlin Dunne Foundation. The bike heading to the auction block in support of the foundation – which has the aim of helping with preventative resources and rehabilitation programmes in support of extreme sports athletes – will be bike 005/500 in commemoration of Dunne’s racing number. With a base value of around $66,000, proceeds of the auction will be donated to the foundation created in memory of Carlin and will serve as initial capital for activities. At the time of writing, bidding had reached $76,600 with five days left to run in the auction. In addition to the motorcycle, Ducati World Superbike rider, Chaz Davies, has donated his racing leathers from his winning race weekend in Laguna Seca during 2019 World Superbike as part of this auction. The suit was specially designed as part of the unveiling of the Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916 and fashions a livery inspired from those of Carl Fogarty’s leathers from the era of the 916 Superbike. While the loss of Carlin Dunne at this year’s Pike’s Peak was a tragic event, it is heartening to know that the foundation bearing his name was created to carry on his legacy. Its goal is aiding in the development of preventative resources and rehabilitation programmes, supporting extreme sport athletes diagnosed with and/or at risk of acquiring Concussion Syndrome, Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), and traumatic brain injuries.
