HANDLING/SUSPENSION
“My personal preference is for the
standard bars that have numbers on.
I like mine rolled slightly back, on the
number one setting. I put hand guards
on purely for protection and to give a bit
of warmth on cooler days. The grips are
standard Yamaha.
At 73kg I easily achieve the perfect sag
measurements for off-road using the
standard springs both front and rear.
The one and only change has been
to the forks to increase bottoming
resistance. We achieved this by
increasing the oil volume in the outer
chamber from 335ml to 350ml per leg.
The settings I usually run on the front
forks are compression 14 clicks out and
rebound 14 clicks out. The rear shock
settings are low speed compression 14
clicks out, high speed compression 1.5
turns out and the rebound is 12 clicks
out. Yamaha provides an excellent base
to work with – definitely the best I have
encountered.”
