POWER
In terms of the engine, our main focus
was the jetting and getting it to run
crisp – the stock jetting tends to be quite
fluffy. We went with 38 pilot, 420 main
and made a slight cut away to the back
of the throttle slide to enhance low down
power – the main goal with any 125! It
worked a treat. To take some hit away
but give the bike a wider power delivery
we retarded the ignition timing slightly.
This certainly helped – with more over
rev on the long roads when in top gear.
Fuel is 100+ octane mixed at 30:1.
GEARING
“We changed the gearing from the
standard 13:48T to 13:49T just to grab
a little more climbing ability in tight XC
events. That said, we may go to 13:47T
for fast, open events. The chain is an
O-Ring RK520 EXW, which I find lasts
about three times longer.”
EXHAUST/RADIATOR
“The standard pipe is the best by far
for power flexibility and I like it purely
because its not as vulnerable as some of
the larger after market pipes. In gnarly
events I run a GYTR short muffler, again
because it is less vulnerable. For open
fast events I use the longer muffler for
slightly more over-rev.
The radiators are always partially
covered on cool days to keep the
engine temperature stable.”
