OUR BIKES
Von Trigger was even lighter after this makeover and the spring and shock upgrade made a real , tangible , difference to comfort and handling , especially on gravel roads where I enjoy riding . I wanted to do more , including an aftermarket tank , old school headlamp and gauge cluster and different livery , but haven ’ t found everything I ’ m looking for yet . These bike mods are ever evolving , but that ’ s part of the fun in it . Von Trigger receives positive feedback wherever he goes , and at least with the original tank , quirky G / S gauge / light binnacle and original 21-inch front wheel it is still recognisable as a G / S ! A number of other bikes have come and gone from my shed in recent years , including the KTM 950 , but the mighty ‘ Von Trigger ’ has stayed put and I intend to keep it that way . So , will there be another stage of bike modifying in the future ? Absolutely . I have an old La Parisienne style fairing on the shelf that really should be applied to a project at some point and I have a crazy vision for a cross-over between the look of the original Mad Max Kawa ’ s fitted with these fairings and the stripped down Beemers used in the more recent Mad Max offerings . I ’ m also tempted by the Siebenrock 1000cc cylinder kit and a couple of flat-slide carbs , but that ’ ll definitely mean a double-disc set-up up front , and so it goes on . It ’ s good to have dreams , but before I start with a further foray into the G / S I ’ ve got another classic , as well as a mutant build on the benches right now … stay tuned .
