KIWI RIDER 05 2019 VOL.1 | Page 94

HOW DOES IT COMPARE TO NZ? The biggest difference between NZ and USA tracks is how rough they are. If any of you know Woodhill or Taikorea it would be like going there after a year of them not being groomed… then going out and racing, except it’s much wider. The tracks are so wide from the quads on the Saturday, then all the kids and amateurs race before we do on the Sunday. Another things is the sheer number of people who come to a race. There were 600 people for the first enduro this year and another 100 on the waiting list! ANY ADVICE? The best advice I can give is that you need to train your arse off... but don’t be scared to give it a go and see what it’s like. Visas are hard to get, but it’s not impossible. They just take time, so don’t expect it to be a five minute job. It took a couple of months to sort mine out. 94 KIWI RIDER Insurance is very expensive. There are no two ways around it, you just have to have insurance. My insurance is about $6000! The biggest thing which stood out to me at first was the sheer amount of guns – just about everyone where I live carries a hand gun with them. Every one of our vehicles has a gun in it! ANY SPONSORS? I’d like to thank my sponsors for this year, Tely Energy racing, KTM, Kenda, Moose Gear, Bell Helmets, Forma Boots, Oakley, Spectro Oils, ODI, Seat Concepts, JDP Suspension, FMF, DP Brakes, XC Gear, Motion Pro, Morgantown Powersports, G2, Evans Coolant.
