well and looks great. Personally I’ve never been
a fan of the oddly shaped and positioned twin
headlights on the GS 1200 and 800 models. At the
rear is a reasonable carrier that will allow luggage
to be easily strapped on for that weekend away.
So what do I really think? Well, the BMW G310GS is
an impressive, not-so-wee machine. For the young
learner it may be a little intimidating size-wise, if
not so tall... despite the okay seat height. While it
is an entry level bike, it is better than that. I see it

The bottom line is that it’s capable. Yes, you could
quite happily tour NZ on it and there are definitely
places where it will be more fun than a larger, heavier
bike. All tighter riding and gravel road work will be
less taxing on the body and, for many, quicker too,
because of easy manageability. But it’s also a heap of
fun and surprisingly quick on our B roads – it can hold
its own. It is an excellent, versatile and comfortable
small capacity machine, with nothing ‘baby’ about it.
